CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A retired Citadel professor was issued a $100,000 bond on child pornography charges on Friday.

Richard Thaddeus Pokryfka, 70, was arrested Wednesday after Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a search warrant at his home on Palmer Creek Bend, near Folly Beach.

Investigators say Pokryfka sent them four different videos of children performing a variety of sex acts with adults.

Pokryfka was charged with three counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and one count of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He remained behind bars in the Charleston County Detention Center Friday.

Pokryfka is listed as “Professor Emeritus” under the School of Business Administration Leadership’s list for faculty and staff on the website.  Citadel officials confirmed he taught at the military college from August 1975 to January 2007.

His attorney, Christopher Lizzi, spoke of Pokryfka's "long, distinguished career in public service" during the bond hearing.  The suspect is an independent contractor for RTP Solutions.  He also served as a captain in the US Navy.

Lizzi said the videos referred to by investigators were not created by Pokryfka, and originated online.

An investigator with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office said these charges were "just the tip of the iceberg" in their investigation with the Department of Homeland Security and ICE.
