LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is looking for a vehicle wanted in a hit-and-run Wednesday night that left a moped rider seriously injured. A week after the crash, troopers released surveillance video of the accident.

Troopers say the crash occurred on Platt Springs Road in Lexington County at about 9 p.m. Wednesday. After hitting Dustin McDonald, the driver of the SUV drove away.

"It's a phone call you never want to receive in the middle of the night or at any time," said McDonald's mother, Shan Jennings. "They don't know if he's dead, they don't know if he's alive. They just left him lying in the middle of the road and didn't care. It's got to be a heartless person to do something like that."

Troopers are looking for a dark SUV that may have damage to the right front, or the front of the vehicle. Photos of the wanted vehicle are attached to this story.

Jennings says McDonald is improving.

If you have any information about the crash that can help find the driver, call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
