Man wanted in double-shooting

Sumter Police are searching for a 27-year-old Sumter man believed to be involved in a shooting that took place Monday night.

At approximately 8:15 p.m. Sumter Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the first block of Gate Street. Upon arrival, officers found a 28-year-old male and a 62-year-old female with apparent gunshot wounds.

Witnesses told police that the subject, identified as John Colclough Jr., and the male victim got into a verbal argument in the yard of the residence. During the argument Colclough pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the man striking him in the right leg and striking the woman in the right shoulder. Colclough fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, police said.

The victims were transported to Tuomey Regional Medical Center for treatment of the gunshot wounds. The victims' injuries are not considered life threatening. Another female victim received minor injuries from flying debris during the incident, but did not require medical treatment.

Colclough is wanted for attempted murder. He is described as a black male, 5'10" tall, 210lbs.
