PJ Randhawa joined the WIS news team in April of 2013 as the Raycom Media State Reporter. Her primary focus is covering issues that have a political or statewide relevance, and her reports are shared among five Raycom Media television stations in the Southeast.
She comes to Columbia from Rapid City, SD where she was a morning news anchor and general assignment reporter for KOTA TV. During her time in South Dakota PJ was able to focus on crime and courts reporting – covering several death penalty trials and even reporting live from the middle a courthouse riot. Her morning news segments were broadcast in five states, including North & South Dakota, Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming.
PJ graduated with a masters degree in Journalism from DePaul University in Chicago in 2011, where she was the recipient of numerous Excellence in Journalism scholarships. During her time in Chicago, PJ worked for numerous top media outlets, including the Chicago Tribune, FOX Chicago, WGN and PBS as an associate producer.
PJ has also been featured in more than 30 magazines and publications worldwide as a role model for minorities who hope to pursue a career in media.
Originally born in Winnipeg, Canada, PJ is now happy to call the Palmetto state home. You can find her at the State House most days, finding out how political issues impact the average South Carolinian. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her dog Knicky, fixing up her fast car and exploring the natural beauty of South Carolina.
