Police: Thousands of dollars worth of heroin pulled off of Greyhound bus

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Police in Charlotte seized thousands of dollars worth of heroin off of a bus when it arrived in Charlotte earlier this month.

The incident was reported on May 6 at 12:20 a.m. at the Greyhound Bus Station on W. Trade Street, according to the report from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police were at the station conducting a bus line drug trafficking investigation when a narcotics K-9 alerted officers to a tan colored suitcase in the undercarriage of a bus that had just arrived in Charlotte from Knoxville, TN.

Police open the suitcase to find it filled with $60,000 worth of heroin, according to the report.

While trying to find out which passenger the suitcase belonged to, several passengers inside the bus terminal told police that a woman who had been on the bus took off running out the back door of the building when she saw police pull the suitcase off the bus.

The investigation is ongoing.
