WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) -

Police say a motorcyclist in West Ashley had to tip his bike over to the side in order to get rid of a drunk woman who had hopped into the rear seat.

On Thursday at 8:50 a.m., a man on a motorcycle approached a Charleston police officer and said a woman wearing a white tank top, shorts and no shoes got on the rear of his motorcycle and said,"I need a ride," and refused to get off.

The motorcyclist said he then forced the woman off his bike by tipping the vehicle to the side in the area of Ashley River and Dogwood roads.

The officer said he then located the woman, who was barefoot, standing in the middle of Dogwood Road attempting to hitch a ride by sticking out her thumb.

A police report states as the woman walked towards the police cruiser, she began to sway from side to side and used her arms to balance.

The woman told the officer that she was trying to get a ride to her father's home. She also said she was unsure how she got to Dogwood Road and said,"I must have blacked out, I started drinking at 6:30."

The officer said an odor of alcohol was coming from the woman's breath, and her speech was slurred and "at times incomprehensible."

The woman was then arrested.  According to investigators, as the officer was completing paperwork, the woman said,"When we going to jail, I'm hungry and don't want to miss dinner. I want to get there before it gets dark."

When the officer told the woman that it was 9 a.m., the woman said,"It's morning?"

Authorities say as the officer was transporting the woman to jail, she said,"If I could, I'd kick your (expletive)!"

The woman was charged with public intoxication.
