LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (WIS) -

Former NASCAR driver Dick Trickle called 911 Thursday afternoon to alert authorities that he was going to kill himself.

A recording of the call chronicles Trickle's calm admission to a Lincoln County 911 operator that he was going to commit suicide.

As the operator answers just after noon on Thursday, Trickle says he's located at the Forest Lawn Cemetery on 150.

When she asks Trickle what his name is, he does not provide it, but says he's "on the back side of" the cemetery next to a 1993 pickup.

In a very calm voice the NASCAR legend says, "there's going to be a dead body...suicide."

The operator then asks Trickle if he was there and he responds by saying "I'm the one."

"Ok, listen to me, sir listen to me," the operator pleads. Trickle repeats his location and then hangs up as the operator says "let me get some help to you."

Authorities tried to call Trickle back, but got no answer.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene, they reportedly found Trickle's body lying near his pickup truck.
