JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

Charleston police say they arrested six James Island Charter High School Students and turned three others over to their parents after two incidents broke out at the school in less than 24 hours.

According to an incident report, an officer responded to the high school Wednesday around 12:50 p.m. after two students, 18-year-old Tiffany Roper and 18-year-old Ashley Green, were seen having an altercation in the school's courtyard.

Video shows the two students shouting at a male student who was trying to walk away. Roper is scene swinging a 3-foot-long piece of plastic at the student, but never hit him.

The report states both females were restrained by school personnel by the time the officer arrived. Both were shouting profanities and trying to get away.

Both students were charged with disturbing school, and taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.

Police again responded to the school Thursday at 7:50 a.m. after a brawl broke out between seven students.

According to a separate incident report, security camera footage shows the fight started between 18-year-old Sam Chavis and 18-year-old Jordan Coaxum-Richardson before five other students jumped in to help their friends. A large group of students were standing by watching the fight.

Police say the group was pulled apart by teachers, administrators, and officers.

Chavis, Coaxum-Richardson, and two other 17-year-old students listed in the report as juveniles were charged with disturbing school and taken to the Charleston County Detention Center. Three other juvenile students received the same charge and were released to their parents pending a family court date.

No students reported injuries resulting from the fights.
