Ford Focus sought in connection to Long Shadow Lane shooting

Shooting scene Shooting scene
RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Richland County Sheriff's deputies say they are looking for four men in connection with a shooting Thursday afternoon.

Deputy Curtis Wilson said a 21-year-old man was shot several times in the upper body just after 5 p.m. in the 2200 block of Long Shadow Lane. The victim was taken to the hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Sheriff Leon Lott says the men, identified as four black males, followed the victim, shot him, and stole his money and backpack before leaving the scene on foot.

Investigators say they are also seeking a gray Ford Focus that may have been used as a potential getaway vehicle.

"They walked past my house, I heard a couple of shots go off," said one witness who did wish to be identified. "I told my other daughter to call 911. While she was calling them I opened the door up, saw him crumpled to the ground. All I could do is tell him to get up into my yard because I was scared they were going to come back and get him again."

The woman said the victim was shot at least once in the neck and in his side. Once she felt it was safe enough, she ran to help.

"He was scared, and he didn't understand why they shot him," she said. "He was just rambling, he was going to pass out. He was starting to bleed out then under his arm, so it was kinda scaring me."

Witnesses say they don't recall a shooting in their neighborhood.

Wilson said deputies are looking for four men in connection with the shooting.
