COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The Richland County Elections Commission has agreed to continue the search for an elections director, however, the chairman for the board of elections says they are not taking applications.

Commissioners made the decision because two of the three finalists said they weren't interested in the job.

Patricia Jefferson and Adam Ragan have both pulled their names from the list. That leaves Howard Jackson as the only finalist to fill the vacant position. Jackson is the current director of elections in Orangeburg County.

The position opened after former Director Lillian McBride stepped down after major problems with the November election.

The decision to keep looking was made late Wednesday afternoon.

Chairman Allen Dowdy stressed this was an ongoing process and the board plans on making some sort of an announcement soon.
