Sheriff's Investigators in Aiken County haven't made an arrest in the murder of a Lexington County man, though they say the investigation continues.

A spokesperson for the sheriff's office said investigators are reaching out to the law enforcement agencies in the counties that surround Aiken, hoping that a tip will lead to an arrest.

Left behind crime scene tape marks the wooded area off Hamelin Road in rural Aiken County where 37-year-old Kevin Holder's body was found. The man who owns the property made the gruesome discovery Tuesday.

Holder was killed from a gunshot wound, according to the coroner's office. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is investigating Holder's death as a homicide, though they haven't released very much information about that investigation.

"There is no suspect at this moment, but they are continuing the investigation," said Captain Eric Abdula, the spokesperson for the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

He said each case the department works presents a different degree of difficulties.

When asked if finding Holder's body in the woods would make this case harder to solve, Abdula said, "We try to take every aspect possible to solve this case a quickly as we can, without hindering the investigation."

The Lexington County Sheriff's Office said Friday no one had reported Holder missing, and that investigators are now looking into the possibility that there may be a second crime scene involved with this case. Investigators in Aiken County won't confirm that.

"I know that some things about this case are case sensitive, so we try not to discuss every detail about the case," said ABdula.

If you have any information about the death of Kevin Holder, call the Aiken County Sheriff's Office at 803-648-6811.
