Lexington County Sheriff's deputies have charged a Chapin man with abuse after a 4-month-old child suffered life-threatening injuries.

Detectives arrested 22-year-old Tyler Sean-Michael Lambert Thursday. He is awaiting a bond hearing Friday afternoon at the Lexington County Detention Center.

According to the arrest warrant, Lambert assaulted the infant on March 17, when the child was 4 months old.

On March 26th, the warrant says the child was taken to Palmetto Health Children's Hospital.  Investigators determined the child had signs of a pattern of physical abuse suffered over some time.

The arrest warrant also says a doctor specifically trained in child abuse determined the infant's injuries came from non-accidental blunt force trauma.

Sheriff James Metts said the abuse caused serious and life-threatening injuries. Metts said the investigation revealed Lambert was primarily responsible for the child's injuries.

Anyone who may have information on possible criminal actions by Lambert should call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-Crime-SC.

If convicted, Lambert could get up to 20 years in prison.
