Richland County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a suspect in connection with multiple armed robberies in northwest Richland County.

Details are limited, but officials say they arrested 32-year-old Joseph Russell on White Falls Drive. Russell is charged with two counts of armed robbery and deputies say he could be charged with more counts.

Deputies say Russell was spotted using a credit card that belonged to a victim.

The first robbery happened on Saturday on Leamington Circle in the Waterford subdivision, which is just off North Lake Drive near Farming Creek Road.

A man who had just gotten cash from an ATM reports he was likely followed to his home around 8 p.m.

He said he saw a man pretending to work on a tire across from the ATM. The suspect followed him as he left the ATM and headed home.

When he got out of vehicle at his home, the man, who was armed with a handgun, approached him and demanded the money.

The second robbery reportedly happened in the Lakeside at Ballentine community off of Johnson Marina Road on Monday. A woman reported being followed home and robbed at gunpoint in her driveway around 4 p.m.

As the victim pulled into her driveway, the suspect got out of a truck and knocked the woman to the ground. He then reportedly grabbed the woman's purse which was next to her child in the back seat of the vehicle.

Neither victim was injured.

The suspect in both robberies is described as being a white or Hispanic male weighing approximately 180-190 pounds, and standing between 5' 9" and 5' 11". He was wearing dark clothing and had a bandana covering his face, according to deputies. He was driving an older model blue Chevy S-10 or Ford Ranger with no tag displayed.
