Estranged husband denies involvement in wife's disappearance

(WMC-TV) – Chris Jones denied he had anything to do with the disappearance of his wife Heather Palumbo-Jones, who was last seen Monday night. He spoke without emotion after a hearing for divorce proceedings for the couple.

"I loved that woman more than anything," Palumbo-Jones' husband Chris Jones said. "There's no way I've put my hands on her or ever put my hands on her."

Jones came across as a man seemingly blind-sided by his wife's desire for a divorce.

"We were a very happy beautiful family right up until the day before she decided to leave abruptly," Jones said.

Germantown police searched the area around the Palumbo-Jones residence, Wednesday. Police said the elementary school teacher has not made contact with her family, friends or co-workers since Monday.

Jones said he has been involved in the search for his wife.

"I've been looking for her around the city," Jones said. "I've been trying to retrace steps. I think she might take. I've been doing anything and everything I possibly can."

The couple separated in early January when Palumbo-Jones moved out. Their relationship according to court records has been very contentious since then.

Palumbo-Jones also got an order of protection. Jones described the incident as just a minor argument over his phone.

"Two people grabbing one object and struggling over it and they lose balance together," Jones explained.

The couple has two young children now in the custody of their Godmother.

Chris Jones said he has no idea where is wife is.

"I just hope she is okay and we can still find some way to get through this.

Jones was served with another order of protection to stay away from the couple's two children and their Godmother. The judge in today's divorce hearing also ordered a mental evaluation for Chris Jones and his wife if she ever shows up
