COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Hundreds of people showed up for an event designed by University of South Carolina students as a show of support after the twin bombings during the Boston Marathon.

The Gamecocks Run for Boston started Thursday night at 6 p.m. at the fields on Greene Street.

About 300 people showed up for the run.

The run, organized by Beta Theta Pi, looks to also raise money for the family of 8-year-old Martin Richard, one of the three people who was killed in Monday afternoon's blast that injured over 100 others, including Martin's mother and sister.

Runners were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue for the 0.25 mile course.
