BOSTON, MA (WIS) - In a symbolic gesture, those attending Wednesday night's Boston Bruins game sang the National Anthem together producing a chilling tribute to those affected by the marathon bombings two days before.

After a pre-game moment of silence and a poignant tribute on TD Garden's video board, the public address announcer asked the crowd to "join together and sing loudly with singer Rene Rancourt."

As the Boston Fire Department Honor Guard presented the colors and blue and yellow ribbons were projected on the ice, Rancourt, a regular anthem singer for the Bruins, began the song himself.

As he reached the lyrics 'what so proudly we hail," he lowered his microphone and the crowd of 17,000+ took over.

While belting out the rest of the anthem, fans could be seen on the television broadcast holding American flags, waving signs in support of the city and clutching each other.

The Bruins lost to the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 in a shootout.

After the game, players from both teams joined together at center ice to raise their sticks to the fans.

Three people died and more than 170 were injured near the finish line of the Boston Marathon Monday when two bombs exploded within seconds of each other.
