COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The latest Winthrop poll shows Gov. Nikki Haley is picking up more support from South Carolinians while U.S. Sen Lindsey Graham's approval has dropped significantly.

Haley's job approval rating stands at 44.8 percent among registered voters in the state. She stood at 43.7 percent with the same group in Winthrop's February, 2013 poll.

Sixty-nine percent of Republicans or those who lean right say the governor is doing a good job. That's up just slightly from the last poll.

As noted by the pollsters, only 14.9 percent of all respondents and only 11.1 percent of registered S.C. voters approve of the way Congress is doing its job.  Just under 38 percent of S.C. residents approve and 35.8 percent disapprove of the S.C. General Assembly's performance.

Graham received a 44 percent approval rating among S.C. registered voters. His approval rating has dropped from 71.6 percent to 57.5 percent among Republicans and those independents who lean toward the GOP compared to the February poll.  This drop corresponds to the entry of two vocal challengers, and discussion of a third, into the primary race against him in 2014, according to pollsters.

The survey of 1069 adults living in South Carolina occurred from April 6-14.
