IREDELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

A Troutman woman was arrested along with two others on drug charges after she swallowed ten balloons full of heroin, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives received information from various sources that the trio was connected to the distribution of heroin from Charlotte through a Mexican Cartel.

After hours of surveillance Lance Gabriel Sigmon, 35, and Kerri Leigh Riley, 28, were stopped and detained after returning from a purchase of heroin in Charlotte, from cartel members, deputies said.

During the course of the investigation, two grams of heroin were found in their home on Goodman Road in Troutman. There were also numerous items of drug paraphernalia and $3,218 in cash located inside the bedroom of the home.

While interviewing Riley, deputies found that she had ingested approximately 10 balloons of heroin weighing 10 grams, the report states.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the contents of Riley's stomach, and she was taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital where a procedure to empty her stomach was conducted, and the 10 balloons of heroin were recovered.

Deputies say the value of the recovered heroin was $2,600.

Michelle Harmon Price, 37, was also arrested in relation to the investigation and charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the Iredell County Magistrate where she received a $5,000 secured bond.

Sigmon and Riley were arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking, opium, or heroin, felony maintain vehicle/dwelling for a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were both taken to the Iredell County Magistrate where they received a $25,000 secured bond each.

Deputies say the investigation is ongoing and detectives continue to pursue further leads and that additional arrests are anticipated.
