An overnight armed robbery ended with the suspects being run off the road by one of the victims, according to Richland County deputies.

The incident started around 2:00 Monday morning in the 1100 block of Rushing Road in the Blythewood area. Two armed suspects entered a home and demanded wallets, purses and money from the victims, according to Curtis Wilson with the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

One of the suspects was armed with a shotgun while the second was armed with a pistol, Wilson said.

The two suspects took the victim's belongings and stole a mason jar full of cash then left in a silver Pontiac Sunfire, according to Wilson. Wilson says one of the victims followed the suspects and ran them off the road into a ditch on Claude Bundrick Road, which is about two miles away from the robbery location.

After the car went into the ditch, one of the armed suspects got out and shot at the victim, Wilson said. The victim left the accident scene and traveled back to the home on Rushing Road to get the second victim.

The two victims then returned to the scene and called the sheriff's department. No arrests have been made at this time.

Authorities have not released a description of the suspects.
