Woman, 59, dies in two-vehicle crash

CALHOUN COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed one person Tuesday morning in Calhoun County. 

Troopers say the incident happened around 7:35 a.m. on Highway 6 just east of Cameron. 

Investigators say one vehicle was traveling east on Highway 6 and the other vehicle was traveling west on Highway 6 when the two collided in the eastbound lane.

Bobbie Gates Lloyd, 59, from Santee was killed in the collision. The other driver was taken to The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg for her injuries.

A passenger also sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. 

Authorities said both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

    Three additional suspects have been arrested for their alleged involvement with aiding the escape of two of the three inmates from Orangeburg County, the sheriff's department said Wednesday.
