GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WYFF) -

A 24-year-old man is facing charges after he walked naked along a highway carrying his baby, who was also unclothed, according to a release from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office received several calls reporting a nude man who was carrying a naked baby while walking into traffic along North Highway 25.

Deputies were able to find the man, later identified as Anthony Michael Hedger, in the wood line off Highway 25 near Highway 414.

A warrant said Hedger ran into the woods which caused scratches on the child.

Deputies said as they tried to take the child, identified as Hedger's 13-month-old son, away from Hedger, Hedger bit the baby on his shoulder, causing a bruise.

Hedger was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital by ambulance for evaluation.  The baby was checked out at the hospital and released to his mother.

Hedger was released from the hospital and was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.  He is being held in the Greenville County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
