New developments popping up on the Boardwalk

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Business is booming at the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, and investors seem to be taking notice and are hoping to cash in on the action.

A new seaside bar, a new burger joint,  and a new mini golf course will all be ready to go for the summer crowds.

"The Sky Wheel, the 2nd Avenue Pier, and all of the restaurants along boardwalk, it really has generated a lot of business downtown," says City of Myrtle Beach spokesman, Mark Kruea. The brand new mini golf course, Shark Attack, on 7th Ave N on the Boardwalk, is open for business.

That is the site where the historic Chesterfield Inn once stood. It was torn down to make room for this new attraction, and still on tap is an ocean view grill. Further north on the Boardwalk, work is underway on an oceanfront bar outside the new Banditos Restaurant. This will connect to the  Boardwalk when the expansion project is complete. Construction on the expansion should start next week.

Also coming soon, Hurricane, a new bar and grill which is moving into the vacant space where Boardwalk Bills used to be. The new restaurant will serve burgers and daiquiris and have an outdoor seating area. Hurricane's owner  is familiar with the Grand Strand and says he feels good about setting up shop on the Boardwalk.

"I've been watching the Boardwalk for several years now. I see a lot of potential and that inspired me to open up Hurricane," said owner Alton Swann.

Swann says Hurricane should be open for business by June 1.
