Snow Reports: We received several reports of high snow totals this morning. One of those reports was from a ridge top location near Maggie Valley/Cataloochee where 10" was said to have been measured this morning. That seems a bit high, but that could have been measured in or near a drift. 4-6" was a common accumulation according to our live-location shot this morning along an overlook just north of Mars Hill at around 3,000ft in northeastern Madison County.
More Snow Today: A Winter Storm Warning continues today (until 6pm) as northwest winds concentrate moderate to heavy snow in bands along the high slopes of Western NC. An additional 2-4" is possible before the snow ends tonight or tomorrow morning.
Chilly Today: While the mountains deal with snow, the Upstate and NE Georgia won't warm up much either. Highs will only climb into the middle-upper 40s for Upstate towns under more sunshine than clouds.
Sunny & Warmer: Even though mornings will be chilly, the next few days will finally offer some comfortable conditions by the afternoon. Highs will reach middle-upper 50s Wednesday and Thursday before hitting 60° and above for the weekend. Western NC will also feel the warm up as highs reach the 50s in the coming days.
