Wreck leaves police car on its roof

ANDERSON, SC (WYFF) - The Anderson Police Department confirmed that Sunday night one of its officers was involved in a crash that left a patrol car overturned.

According to Anderson police, the officer was driving on River Street around 6:00 p.m., when an unknown vehicle turned into the roadway, in front of the officer.

Investigators said the officer swerved to miss the car, hit a guide wire and flipped.

The other driver did not stay at the scene of the crash.

The police officer driving the car at the time of the crash was taken to AnMed Health, with non-serious injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
