Sheriff's reports "Talladega-type" crashes causing traffic problems on I-26

Posted: Updated:

The Newberry County Sheriff's Office reports a traffic backup on Interstate 26 from a series of accidents.

Sheriff Lee Foster reports there are "numerous motor vehicle accidents involving several vehicles" on I-26 westbound between mile markers 82 and 85 in Newberry County. The affected area is between the SC 202 exit and SC 772. He says the roadway is full of emergency vehicles.

Foster recommends drivers avoid the area if possible.  He also warned drivers to use caution on wet roads.

"No one seems to be severely injured, but these are those Talladega-type wrecks," said Foster.
