Richland County investigators arrested three more suspects in connection with the investigation of Brett Parker's sports gambling operation.

In total, 12 people have been arrested and charged in the case:

  • Dudley Sanford, 54
  • Donald Shade, 67
  • Otis Culclasure, 45
  • Trent Crider, 44
  • Matthew Baughman, 42
  • Harold Saxby, 52
  • Charles Peele, 78
  • Timothy Boan, 58
  • Ian Cook, 28
  • Clarence Carroll, 73
  • Gregory Dority, 30
  • Joseph Watson, 31

Deputies say the suspects were alleged customers or clients of the gambling enterprise that ended with Parker's arrest on a double murder charge.

Parker was the prime suspect in the killings of his wife, Tammy, and a family friend, Bryan Capnerhurst. Both were found fatally wounded inside the Parker home.

From the very beginning, Parker's attorney admitted Parker had been running a sports betting operation.

Richland County investigators seized considerable evidence, including computers said to have contained information about who else was involved in what appeared to be a fairly elaborate betting ring.

In January, three men connected to that operation pleaded guilty in federal court for their participation in setting up the ring, taking bets and delivering payoffs.

Now the sheriff's department is going after their customers.

A sheriff's spokesman says there are more than a dozen others who will be taken into custody. All have been or will be charged with the same magistrate-level offense of gambling. The penalty upon conviction calls for a 30-day jail sentence or a fine set in Richland County at $262.50.
