LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Las Vegas Strip shooting suspect Ammar Harris returns to a Los Angeles court room Thursday to continue his fight against extradition to Nevada.
An identification hearing was scheduled in L.A. Superior Court at 8:30 a.m.
Harris faces three counts of murder in connection to a car-to-car shooting that resulted in a fiery crash on Feb. 21.
In the case, the prosecution must prove Harris is the man wanted for the deadly chain of events on the Strip last month. Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said the lead prosecutor in the case will be in Los Angeles.
"It's a small little curveball in a game of nine innings," said Wolfson. "It causes a little delay but the inevitable is he will be transported back to Nevada."
Wolfson said he wasn't surprised Harris fought extradition earlier this month. Wolfson called it a defense tactic often used by suspects who want to delay a case.
"When people are charged with very serious crimes they are not real (eager) to come back to Las Vegas to face the charges," Wolfson said.
Wolfson said the triple murder is one of the most important cases in his office. He has assigned two of his "seasoned" homicide prosecutors to it. Wolfson is confident the office will prove Harris is their man through evidence such as fingerprints, photos and witness statements.
"There's a loss and void that can never be filled," said Tehran Boldon, whose brother Michael Boldon was killed in the wreck. "This person has taken someone so special from us."
Tehran Boldon is also aggressively pursuing Harris' prosecution. Thursday would have been Michael Boldon's 64th birthday. Tehran Boldon will take a bus to face his brother's accused killer in court. He said he will bring his brother's picture.
"He would have done anything for me," Tehran Boldon said. "I would ride a donkey to China to see this man brought to justice."
Wolfson said if Harris waives extradition he could be transported to Las Vegas in a few days. If Harris fights extradition again, the DA's office will have to get a governor's warrant. That process could take as long as 60 days.
On Wednesday night, the Laugh Factory Comedy Club at the Tropicana held a benefit show for Michael Boldon's family. Proceeds went to his memorial fund.
