COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina and federal officials are holding a big stash of counterfeit prescription drugs seized at a Columbia warehouse as they try to remove pills that can be useless or dangerous.
Officials said Friday the bust of bogus drugs shipped from India included tablets claiming to be erectile dysfunction medications Viagra and Cialis, and the prostate treatment Proscar.
The officials wouldn't discuss details surrounding shipments of the counterfeit prescription drugs because they said the probe is continuing.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says counterfeit medicine may be contaminated or contain the wrong or no active ingredient. The fake drugs also could have the right active ingredient but at the wrong dose.
The raid also confiscated counterfeit goods from China claiming to made by Coach, Prada, Ray-Ban and Golf Pride.
