GREENVILLE, SC (WYFF) - A
3-year-old dog in the Upstate is in need of a new home after his owner dropped him off
to be boarded while he was on a business trip and was killed in an
interstate wreck.
Haywood
Road Pet Motel said the owner brought Fudge, a Jack Russell/Schnauzer
mix, in the week of Valentine's Day before he left town for work. The
owner's son later called saying his father was killed in a wreck on
Interstate 85.
Pet
Motel employees said a friend of the owner's children planned on taking
the dog, but it didn't work out, so, the motel's been trying to find a
home ever since.
On
Tuesday, the story was posted and shared on Facebook, and Pet Motel
employees said that there has been a lot of interest in Fudge and they
are conducting interviews and checking references to find him a new
owner.
They
said, "We are wanting to find the perfect match for our Fudge, who has
been a part of our family since a pup. So we are wanting to definitely
make sure we find the right fit."
Fudge is described as housebroken, weighing 35 pounds, great with kids, dogs and cats.
As of about noon Wednesday, a new home had not been selected.
Those interested in Fudge can call Haywood Road Pet Motel at 864-288-9492.
