CINCINNATI (AP) - A veteran Ohio journalist has died after collapsing Monday morning in his newsroom. Barry Horstman was 60.
A Cincinnati native and Ohio State University alumnus, Horstman spent much of his career with The Cincinnati Post and The Cincinnati Enquirer. He also had stints at The Los Angeles Times, Las Vegas Sun and Scripps Howard News Service. Most recently, he led Enquirer reporting on protecting voting rights in Ohio's crucial election last year, and coverage of the city's streetcar project and troubled pension system.
Enquirer Editor Carolyn Washburn says Horstman was a tough, relentless reporter who loved his community.
Horstman was also a marathon runner and skilled bowler.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports (http://cin.ci/W8mujG ) that Horstman died after collapsing in The Enquirer's newsroom. No other details of his death were released immediately.
