MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Flying can be quick, but it can also be frustrating by the time you go through security, get to your gate, and pay all those fees.  So the last thing you would want to hear is that your flight is delayed or canceled, but if you are flying out of Myrtle Beach International your chances of flying on time are better than at other airports.

According to the US Department of Transportation, MYR performed better than the national average when it came to on-time arrivals in 2012.  The report shows 84 percent of flights hit their time at MYR, while nationally, only 81 percent made their arrival times.

Coastal Carolina University student Keegan Fridblom said he flies back and forth to see his family in St. Louis and has never really had a problem flying out of Myrtle Beach.

"I've probably flown in and out of here 50 times at least," Said Fridblom.  "Probably 5 or 10 percent of the time the flight late."

Myrtle Beach International also beat the national average for the number of flight cancellations.  According to the DOT, less than one percent of flights at MYR were canceled during the year.

Fridblom said when he makes a trip, it is not the airport in Myrtle Beach he has to be worried about.

"It's been pretty satisfactory I mean it think when you fly you have to take into consideration all of the factors like plane malfunctions and also other airports that are busy," Added Fridblom. "They can affect you being on time for arrival or departure."
