50 pounds of marijuana found in traffic stop

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A large amount of marijuana was seized after a traffic stop in Horry County, says police spokesman Sgt. Robert Kegler.

The Streets Crimes Unit with the Horry County Police Department stopped a car on Highway 501 near Pee Dee Highway on Wednesday, Feb. 13 for speeding.

That's when a narcotics detecting K-9 indicated illegal drugs were inside the car, and a search found 50 pounds of marijuana.

Both men in the car were arrested and taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center 

Richard Anzel Harrelson, 62, of Conway was charged with driving too fast for conditions, trafficking marijuana more than 10 pounds, possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He has been released on $20,155 bond.

Ricky Lee Harrelson, 37, of Conway was charged with trafficking marijuana more than 10 pounds, possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He was released on $20,000 bond.
