Driver killed, passengers injured when car hits tree

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

One person is dead and two others were hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash Thursday evening.

According to the Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 7 p.m. on South Lake Drive near Bluefield Road.

Troopers say the driver of a 2006 Chevy was killed after running off the road and striking a tree.  The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

Authorities have not released the identity of the driver.

There were two passengers in the car, a 14-year-old and a 24-year-old, both of Pelion. They were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts.

The Highway Patrol is investigating.
