After losing on a questionable last second call to Dougherty, the Monroe girls basketball team needed to pretty much win out and take care of their business to be the top seed in the region tournament and the Lady Tornados did just that.
Monroe will indeed be the top seed in the region tournament after blowing out Worth County on Saturday. Their only two region losses this year coming against rivals Westover and Dougherty which should make up for a memorable region 1-AAAA tournament coming up this week.
Although, Monroe has been playing well. Its head coach hasn't fully been pleased. Cheryl Cheeks says her team isn't doing to basic things in order to maximize their potential and that has to change for a region championship to be possible.
"We're not being consistent enough for us to be successful right now and when I say that they're not doing what's expected of them. We're playing good we're scoring the points but we're not executing what our plan is but one thing I do know is that we're going to get it and we have a couple days to get it right and we're to go look and film and we're going to try to adjust whatever we're doing." Said Cheeks.
Lady Tornados finish the regular season, 19-6, 12-2 in region. The Region tournament begins Tuesday.
