According to the charges, the suspects used beatings, threats of death and threats of attacks from pit bulls and large snakes to hold a woman and her child against their will for two years.More >>
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -
Authorities say a Georgetown couple has been charged with murdering their 2-year-old daughter in North Carolina last year.
According to a release from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, investigators assisted the Mooresville Police Department in the apprehension of 22-year-old Nicholas Burnette Clark and 21-year-old Sheila Amanda Hendley, of 2 Yadkin Avenue, on Wednesday.
A Mooresville police spokesman said Hendly and Clark are charged with murder in connection with the death of their 2-year-old daughter, Lucy Rose Clark.
The toddler was found dead on March 15, 2012, when the family was living in a home at 519 Sharpe Street in Mooresville, police confirmed.
The police spokesman would not elaborate on the details of the investigation at this time.
Clark and Hendley are being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center pending extradition to North Carolina.
Both of them are charged with first-degree murder and two counts of felony child abuse.
