All lanes are back open after a collision involving three vehicles, including a Columbia Police officer, caused major delays on Interstate 126 inbound Tuesday.

According to Columbia Police Department spokesperson Jennifer Timmons, the incident happened on I-126 just before the Broad River Road Bridge.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the officer was attempting to stop traffic for SCE&G so they could run a line across the road.

Troopers say as traffic began to slow down, a Chevy truck hit a Saturn, and the Saturn then hit a Chevy Impala.

Traffic heading into Columbia was stopped for several minutes around 11:30 a.m.

All lanes of traffic are now moving.

Timmons said the police officer was expected to be okay. The Highway Patrol says there were no reports of injuries.

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
