COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney won't get any special treatment from his new position coach.
Deke Adams said Wednesday that he'll demand the same out of Clowney as he will from all linemen he'll coach next season.
Adams was hired last week to replace longtime South Carolina defensive line coach Brad Lawing, who accepted a similar job at Florida. Adams has constantly been asked how he'll handle Clowney.
Adams says that seems to matter much more to those on the outside of the program than to him. The coach says he'll work to make all the linemen and the defense better - including Clowney, no matter how much attention he'll get.
Adams has enjoyed meeting the 6-foot-6, 256-pound Clowney, who finished sixth in last year's Heisman Trophy voting.
