CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Episcopalians remaining with The Episcopal Church after the Diocese of South Carolina left are holding a convention in Charleston.
The Saturday session is to elect a provisional bishop for 19 parishes and six worship groups remaining with The Episcopal Church. The Right Rev. Charles Glenn vonRosenberg, a retired bishop of the Diocese of East Tennessee, is to be installed.
The diocese that left has gone to court to protect its name and property. A state judge earlier issued a restraining order saying only the diocese that left has the right to use the name the Diocese of South Carolina.
Episcopalians meeting Saturday have said they will come up with a name for their group that complies with the court order.
