CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says deputies responding to an abandoned vehicle in Awendaw located a Richland County man who was reported missing yesterday.
On Tuesday at 4:15 a.m., deputies responded to the area of Highway 17 North and Seewee Road in reference to a vehicle in the roadway.
When authorities arrived on the scene they found an abandoned 2013 Cadillac.
A second deputy patrolling the area then located 74-year-old William Leeke, who had been missing since Monday, walking in the area of Highway 17 and Guerins Bridge Road.
Leeke was then transported to the hospital where he was reunited with his family.
Leeke is the former head of the South Carolina Corrections Department.
