FLORENCE, SC (WMBF NEWS) – An 18-wheel tanker truck that caught fire caused Interstate 95 to shut down briefly this morning; the fire was contained and no injuries were reported.

Shortly after 4 a.m., the West Florence Fire Department received a call of a truck on fire on I-95 near the I-20 junction, according to a news release from the department. Crews arrived to find a truck carrying 6,500 gallons of used oil on fire.

The fire, which started in the rear of the trailer after an apparent mechanical failure, was quickly contained, officials stated. The South Carolina Highway Patrol, Florence Police Department and Florence County Sheriff's Office also responded to the call.
