CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -
A male and a female were plucked from the Charleston Harbor early Saturday morning by rescue teams after the boat they were on reportedly flipped over.
A number of rescue teams were called to the Charleston Harbor just before midnight on Friday, January 11 after someone called 911 and said they heard a male and female yelling for help in the harbor near White Point Gardens.
According to a release, the caller could not see the victims due to dense fog.
Marine units from the Charleston Fire Department, Saint John's Fire Department, and Charleston County Rescue responded to the area and were able to locate the stranded 22-year-old male and 23-year-old female in less than 20 minutes, officials say.
The two victims were found on top of a small overturned boat. They were reportedly in the water for over an hour before they were rescued.
The two victims were transferred over to the care of Charleston County EMS. The US Coast Guard secured the overturned boat.
