CHARLESTON, SC (WIS) -

Lexington School District Two is being sued by the mother of a Special Olympics athlete who was allegedly sexually assaulted by a coach in March 2012.

The lawsuit, filed out of Charleston County, alleges the school district did not do enough to protect the woman's child from Corneluis Davis, a Brookland-Cayce High School teaching assistant who was charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the case.

According to the suit, the child's mother discovered Davis was having sex with the child after a fellow Special Olympian told her about the incident.

Davis was also hit with the same charge for having sex with the same victim in the Lowcountry.

Davis was placed on administrative leave, and is not allowed on school property.
