SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Deputies said the bodies of two people were found in the front yard of a Seneca home Saturday morning in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide.
Oconee County deputies were called to 220 Steve Nix Road about 7:40 a.m. where the bodies were found. Investigators said their early findings indicate a possible murder-suicide. The coroner's office has not yet released a cause of death, though deputies said both people appear to have been shot.
Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis said apparent murder-suicide happened shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday. He said both subjects resided at the incident location; they were not married but were in a relationship.
He said the female victim was Gwendolyn D. Hiott, 58, and the male victim was James Wesley Foxx, 50. Addis said a handgun was found lying near the body of Foxx.
After completing both autopsies, Addis said Foxx died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head while Hiott died from shots to the chest and neck, with the results consistent with a murder-suicide.
