COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) - The website of the SC Department of Employment and Workforce appeared to have been hacked over the weekend.

But it turns out the website was down for reconstruction.

When visitors tried to visit the site, a message appeared stating "This Site Was Hacked." A spokesperson for the department says the website was simply "defaced" and not hacked.

She compared that message to graffiti on a wall and assures no personal information was stolen.

This incident follows the hacking of the SC Department of Revenue back in October that put millions of SC residents' personal information at risk.
