Party like it's the end of the world

Posted: Updated:

The Maya predicted that Friday would be the last day on earth.

We don't know if it'll come in the form of a robot apocalypse, a big rock apocalypse, or even a zombie apocalypse.

But something is supposed to happen Friday, right?

"We're going to party tonight!" said Midlands radio personality Woody Windham and owner of The Woody nightclub in the Vista.

Windham is one of many having end of the world parties.  And why not?

"You don't have to worry about a hangover since there's no tomorrow," he said. "You don't have to worry about going to work."

"I think it's just a misunderstanding of modern day man,"  said Tut Underwood with the SC State Museum.  The museum just happens to have a Mayan exhibit on display.

"They were sharp people!" he said.

The were so sharp,  they had several calendars for different things like planting and hunting.

"One of them called the long count was over 5,000 years long," he said. "That's the one that ends tomorrow. It's probably like we have a calendar that ends on December 31st. Well, the next day it starts all over on January 1st."

But the Museum seems to be hedging their bets. They're having an end of the world party, too. They'd like you to come eat drink and be Maya.

"Once we got it we thought hey we could do something with this!" said Underwood.

Windham's living life like every day is his last. He's betting life will go on tomorrow. But just in case, he's making plans for the rapture.

"Once everybody ascends I'm going to go around and collect all the change from their pockets! hahahaha."
