Summerville Elementary student admits to bringing bullets on bus

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

A Summerville Elementary School student admitted to bringing bullets on a school bus Thursday morning, after the bullets were found by a bus driver.

Pat Raynor, a public information officer for Dorchester School District Two, says a bus driver found two bullets on a school bus during the buses second route on Thursday morning. The bullets were found on the floor at the back of the bus.

The second bus route was transporting students to Summerville Elementary School. The bus ran a route earlier in the morning for Summerville High School.

School officials ordered students who rode the bus to be removed from class. They were questioned and their lockers were searched.

Officials say the student admitted to having the bullets after meeting with the Summerville Elementary School principal. The student was questioned by Summerville police, and an incident report was filed.

Raynor says the student will be recommended for disciplinary action. It has not been said why the student had the bullets on the bus.

Police say no additional ammunition or weapons were found at the school.

A statement from Dorchester District Two states, "Safety for all students and staff continues to be the top priority in all Dorchester District Two schools."
