Valdosta blood drive to honor James Eunice

American Red Cross officials are preparing for one of the biggest holiday blood drives in Georgia.

Tomorrow is the second annual James Eunice blood drive in Valdosta. Hundreds of people are expected to give blood and help keep Eunice's legacy alive.

He was a beloved Valdosta Wildcat football player who drowned in a Lowndes County pond in January 2011.

His father says Eunice gave blood for the first time 23 days before he died, and his family wants to continue to give the gift of life in his honor.

"We say James loved God, he loved others, and he loved to invest in others lives, and giving blood for his first time was his opportunity to give back to somebody else he may not know, but give them an opportunity and give the gift of life," said John Eunice.

The blood drive will be tomorrow at CrossPointe Church on Northside Drive in Valdosta from 12 to 6 p.m.
