DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Four vehicles belonging to the Darlington County Sheriff's Office have been damaged in the pursuit of a hit and run suspect Friday afternoon.

Capt. Andy Locklair, spokesman for the Darlington County Sheriff's Office, says the hit and run occurred in the Hartsville area, and deputies spotted the suspect vehicle on Billy Farrow Road around 2:45 p.m.

Deputies pursued that vehicle, which collided with two sheriff's office cars. The suspect then fled his still moving vehicle.

Two other deputies vehicles moved in front of the vehicle to stop it on Highway 151 near Center Road.

Though all four of the deputies' vehicles were damaged, no sheriff's office employees were hurt.

After a short foot pursuit, Franklin Harris was taken into custody and charged with possession of cocaine and failure to stop for blue light. More charges are possible.
