COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A woman is recovering in an area hospital after the vehicle she was driving crashed through a brick wall coming to rest on its side Tuesday morning near downtown Columbia.

The incident happened in front of 2231 Main Street.

Witnesses say the woman's 2004 Ford Escape was traveling south on Main Street when it crossed over into the northbound lanes and ran off the side of the road.

Police said the driver likely experienced a medical emergency just before losing control of the SUV. The unidentified driver was trapped inside the vehicle for a short time until firefighters could free her.

Nobody else was injured.

No charges have been filed.
