Recent TechStars’ Seattle graduate Sandglaz closed its seed round of $500,000. The early-stage investment will be used to expand Sandglaz’s team and to further develop the product with enhanced features and 3rd party integration and to scale customer acquisition channels.
Key areas of the enterprise are being disrupted by the consumerization of IT. The enterprise world is moving towards smaller high performance teams who use simple products and collaborate across companies. Sandglaz aims to disrupt the planning and task management space for this growing market segment. “Teams nowadays work on multiple projects at the same time and have constantly shifting priorities. Before Sandglaz, the only available options to them were either Gantt chart solutions that are rigid and don’t accommodate their changing plans, or task list apps that offer no planning. Sandglaz is the first to innovate a new solution that simplifies planning and embraces the way teams actually work today” said Nada Aldahleh, CEO of Sandglaz.
Sandglaz’s solution to planning is called the Infinity Grid. Teams plan their tasks in adjustable time-frames. The time-frames are visualized in columns so they can quickly identify their immediate priorities without searching and filtering through a long task list. When their priorities change, they can simply drag and drop them to a different time-frame. Best of all, when teams don’t meet their plans, Sandglaz will automatically adjust their plans for them.
According to Cory Snavely, IT Manager at the University of Michigan and a customer of Sandglaz “Sandglaz is the first tool I've seen that is designed to fit the dynamic nature of how people really work rather than the typical old-school Gantt charting tool, which assumes fixed schedules, fixed priorities, and static assignments of people to projects, thus requiring a project manager (who has way better things to do) to spend all his/her time updating the chart as circumstances inevitably change.”
